Resources for Trans Women and Transfeminine people – The Queer Space

DMC is a resource dedicated to helping trans people transition in the UK. All trans people.

But, as of right now, it’s also only run by me – a trans man. So, you’d be right in saying that I don’t exactly have all of the knowledge needed to write about other identities as in-depth as I would like, including being a trans woman or transfeminine person.

Which means that DMC is incredibly heavy on resources for trans men right now, with not so many resources for anyone else.

We do have a Write For DMC page if anyone wants to help out with that.

But for this post, DMC has reached out to The Queer Space, to give trans women and transfeminine people somewhere to go that has more resources than us, that are geared specifically towards them.

The Queer Space was started by Elle, as well as a some of her other trans friends, who help her to verify that the resources on TQS are reliable. Elle started her website so that different resources could be put together all in one place, making it easier for other trans people to find the information they need quickly and easily.

A bit more about Elle for those who are curious: (I’m paraphrasing her words)

“My name is Elle, and my pronouns are they/she… I’m MtF, and a lot of the resources I was using required me to create my own YouTube playlists, as well as having to search for hours, making lists of links just to navigate my way through life… I finally had enough of it, so I made [TQS] to put everything together both for myself, and other people.”

Which is very similar to why I started DMC – trans people need more resources, better resources, and for those resources to be more easily accessible.

Life is hard enough as someone just starting their transition, without having to search the furthest corners of the Internet (maybe even feeling a little alone while you’re doing it) just to find a) the right information b) reliable information, and c) information that you should already have easy access to.

But with websites like The Queer Space and DMC, you don’t have to be alone. And you don’t have to struggle to find out what you need just so that you can live your life as who you really are.

The Queer Space describes themselves like this:

The Queer Space is a website designed to be a collection of proper resources for all queer people in one place. Our goal is to help queer people, especially queer youth find the right help they need. Whether that is hotlines, charities or just advice, we want to be able to collectively bring all that to one place. Previously individuals have had to scour the internet looking for advice or help, not knowing where to look and knowing what is reliable or not. We want to change that and make help more accessible to everyone.

They have a page just for Transfeminine resources, which has a list of links that sends you to other resources. These links are separated into Non-medical, Medical, and Other. They link to stuff like tucking, puberty blockers, and in-depth information about sex, amongst a whole host of other topics.

Overall, The Queer Space is another website by trans people, for trans people. Which is exactly what we need more of in the world right now.
